You may want to know about checking an inmate account balance on GettingOut. It is because you have someone who is incarcerated and you want to send money to them, but you want to know first their account balance.
As explained on the GettingOut site, the one who knows the inmate account balance is only the inmate itself. So, as their friend or a family member, you will not know their balance. However, when you deposit an inmate account, you will have to ask the inmate about their balance. It can be done by calling them over the phone or you are able to schedule a video visitation or send a message.
An inmate can know that they have funds available by an automated voicemail message which is sent to the inmate. The message is sent to the inmate every time funds are deposited to their account.
You cannot find out the inmate account balance unless you ask the inmate. However, you are able to know the amount of money on your Friends & Family account. How to find out?
- The first thing that you have to do is to log into the GettingOut website.
- After that, you need to choose the ‘New Deposit and Account Management System’ option.
- The next thing that you have to do is to choose ‘View My Account’.
It is important for you to note that after you create your Friends and Family account, and then it is not active or not used for 180 consecutive days, the account will be inactive unless the time is shorter or longer based on governing law or contract. This rule is effective from December 28th, 2022. Let’s say that an account is used by the account holder at any point in the period of inactivity. If so, the inactivity period will be reset.
For your information, GettingOut offers four ways for you to be able to deposit funds for an inmate. Those ways include online, by phone, at the facility and mobile app. If you want to deposit money online, you can do it by using your credit cards such as Visa, Discover, MasterCard and American Express. After you deposit, the funds will be available to an inmate immediately. If you want to deposit money by phone, you can call 1 (866) 516-0115. There will be operators that will help you for depositing money. If you want to deposit money at the facility, you can do it at a lobby kiosk in one of many detention facilities across the country. You may be required to show identity verification for this, so don’t forget to bring your ID. If you want to deposit through the GettingOut mobile app, you can do that, but first you have to make sure that you have downloaded the app. If you are iOS users, you are able to download the app at the App Store, but if you are Android users, you are able to download the app at the Google Play Store.
