What is the Focus of the Turner RSAT?

The Turner RSAT primarily offers intensive mental health care to its inmates, as well as substance abuse treatment. For high-risk, high-need offenders with a history of substance abuse, this facility has a six-month therapeutic substance abuse treatment program.

Turner RSAT has a partnership with Spectrum Health Systems to provide a highly structured environment for aspiring states with chronic substance abuse, chronic recidivistic tendencies, and dependency problems. Well, it is to ensure that when they return to their communities, they’ll be better off as law-abiding, prosocial, independent citizens.

The rehabilitation programs at Turner RSAT likely follow a structured approach that incorporates multiple evidence-based treatment modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), individual and group therapy, relapse prevention strategies, motivational interviewing, and life skills training.

These programs are typically structured to offer residential or inpatient settings where participants can receive intensive therapy, education, counseling, and support. These aims are to help them overcome the underlying factors of drug addiction, such as mental health problems, trauma, and social challenges, and develop the skills necessary for successful reintegration into society.

What are the Additional Programs Available for Inmates?

In addition to focusing on drug abuse rehabilitation, the Turner RSAT also provides some additional programs, including academic, counseling, religious activities, and recreation. These can help them gain new skills while living in prison. Inmates have an instructive chance to improve their skills.

Here are the programs available for inmates at the Turner RSAT:

  • Academic: General Education Diploma
  • Counseling: Individual and group counseling in a therapeutic community setting
  • Recreation: General Recreation
  • Religious Activities: Various Worship Services

Through the Welfare Creature Society, the facility also takes part in a puppy selection program that allows inmates to bond with a dog and encourages them to become service dogs. In this program, inmates should teach the dogs basic commands.
